Dr. Jan Gilmore is a fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon specializing in knee and shoulder surgery. He is board certified and a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. His practice focuses on the surgical and non-surgical treatment of acute and chronic injuries related to an active lifestyle. Dr. Gilmore completed a Sports Medicine Fellowship at the University of Virginia and has specific expertise in the arthroscopic surgical care of both knee and shoulder problems, as well as joint replacements of the knee and shoulder. Having completed his Orthopaedic Surgical Residency at a Level 1 Trauma Center, he is also proficient in the care of general orthopaedic trauma and fracture care.
Dr Gilmore firmly believes that medicine is a team sport and that the best results come from the collaboration between patient and physician. He understands that injuries and chronic pain can be frightening and approaches his patients with kindness and compassion. He prioritizes patient comfort and understanding and encourages his patients to actively participate in their care in order to optimize their outcome.
